Initiative Wing is the “tip of the spear” for all discovery, scouting, intel and science within Vanguard.
Initiative Wing has a long proud history within Vanguard. From the early discoveries of the original Pathfinders to the steady Scouts- leading the way into and out of darkness to the notorious exploits of the Cavalry, pulling off what no one else could.
Today’s Initiative feeds the same needs as those squadrons of yesteryear but uses the more flexible structure of the Vanguard’s grand First Fleet. It will contribute specialists in fields like scouting, stealth, intel as well as future areas such as planetary/stellar/cyber sciences to each First Fleet vessel that they serve on.
We hope to attract personnel that want to specialize in gathering knowledge in unknown environments and potentially dangerous situations. This could be finding and navigating a new Jump Point or searching a discovered cave; scouting ahead in a ship, vehicle or on foot into territory occupied by potential hostiles. There are common threads of courage, self-reliance and a penchant for getting the information Vanguard needs in all of our Initiative operatives.
Our Wing: How Initiative leads the way
Initiative Academy
Initiative Wing Academy is where we teach our own culture and build upon the universal base of Recruit Orientation. Initiative Academy is designed to lift every Talon to become a functional “Initiative Generalist”, and when ready, they will choose a First Fleet assignment and receive additional specialized training.
Some of the training will focus on the ability to succeed in:
Reconnaissance
Surveillance
Intelligence roles
CyberOps & Hacking
Remaining undetected as a pilot or on foot
Survival
Advanced navigation
Observation & Reporting techniques
Fleet
Once the member completes the Wing Academy they will choose First Fleet assignment(s) from a diverse pool of Units that perform a variety of multi-wing operations.

Discovery and their mission specific fleet roster prepare for the challenging future ahead in Pyro, we want to share this grand adventure with all the wings. To conduct High Risk exploration, to assess and survey subjects in extreme situations, always remembering the primary objective is the safe return of their crews, and the data/or intelligence obtained.
