I intend to command the best Exploration, Discovery, Archive & Intelligence gathering Wing ever created! Establishing a firm but fair command climate. Empowering the Officers, Chiefs, NCO’s and all ranks to lead their members and not dictate. A Wing climate where Group Commander’s down to a new Talon, piloting their Aurora LX out into the Black for the 1st time feels their effort and input matters. Inflexibility is stagnant, innovation and thinking outside the box is what moved man to fly and to reach for the stars. Initiative will be the “Tip of the Spear” for Vanguard. Venturing forward, exploring and leading the way for Exploration, Discovery and Archival discoveries! But to reach our goals we must train for the unexpected. Exploration often means help will be very far away. Every leader, pilot, explorer, scientist, engineer and data archivist is also an explorer. And must be a master of their study field and much, much more. With the Wing’s discovery of a new jump point to an undiscovered system we can earn more fame, fortune and glory than any explorer ever imagined! We are the tip of the spear, trailblazing the path for others to follow. My goal is for Initiative to become more than just an Exploration Wing in an Organization. I want Initiative to be the best Group of Explorers to ever fly into the unknown.

Pathfinder Squadron
The initial seekers of the path out into The Black and finding unexplored areas. Looking for uncharted jump points, systems, objects found in space and static anomalies. These discoveries could be for mining, exploration, science, historical, salvage or any tactical or peaceful endeavour. Given a direction of travel pathfinders will find the way.
Scout Squadron
Their specialty is going forward, seeking out hostile forces ahead of a pathfinder group, exploration flotilla, peaceful convoy or combat fleet. They know not being spotted and getting back with their critical information is paramount for the unit and mission success. To see and not be seen, that is their mission.
Cavalry Squadron
Initiative’s most Elite Squadron, proficient in combat, force recon and quick strike specialists. Only selected from seasoned veterans from the Initiative Wing and used by Initiative to rescue downed exploration pilots and isolated Initiative ships in tricky situations. Once you meet the minimum required rank needed and have proven you have the needed skills, and certifications for Cavalry all are welcome to apply.

Discovery.
Express Squadron
The fast and furious movers of data, this is where the Initiative pilots “with the need for speed” are. They get that get the data where it needs to go, fast! For Vanguard organizational needs or for clients needing their data moved with security, speed and safety they get the job done.
Analysis Squadron
Manipulators of data; experts at decrypting an encrypted data core or decoding an enemy transmission. Encrypting critical Vanguard data for safekeeping, or just crunching it for transport, sales and or data storage. If that transmission or drive has vital information stored somewhere, these code masters will ferret it out.
Recon Squadron
Conducting in depth recon’s on targets after the initial discovery for tactical analysis, target observation for any additional information needed from that location. They are the Recon, Archivists, Target Assessment analyzers and the Indiana Jones of Vanguard. Part time scholars and part time adventurers.
Discovery
Fire and food, iron and looking glass, by sail or by engine.
Exploration, Discovery, Intelligence, and Innovation, are the backbone of Humankind.
Planetary Science
All science on a planetary body falls under this team. This would be the animals and plants, the chemical & physical compositions on planets and moons. Testing and proving their theories and the scientific laws of life as we may or may not know it. Biologists, Zoologists, Geologists, Meteorologists, Physicists, Chemists, etc. are needed to apply.
Stellar Science
This group focuses on any science related to outside the atmospheric band of planets or moons. Any space anomalies like black holes or dark matter, along with the study of both quantum and jump travel will fall under this squadron to maybe see the other side of a black hole. Their goal is to someday bend time and space!
Innovation
The innovative quest, or “IQ” squadron, combines scientific research and engineering to improve current equipment. Or create new technology for Vanguard to sell or utilize. It could be creating new weapons, components, subcomponents or making improvements or modifications on existing ship equipment or any other useful technology.

Initiative Wing’s mission sometimes takes us beyond the operational range of Vanguard’s Organizational support’s abilities. When organizational support is out of range Initiative’s Support Detachment exists to provide assistance to any member in need. Our Search & Rescue and Recovery teams will be working in tandem with our elite Cavalry Squadron to rescue downed exploration pilots and isolated Initiative ships in tricky situations. Recovery teams will repair or recover downed & disabled ships or salvage and scrap those ships too damaged to repair. Leaving no trace of a wreck when done.
We will be looking for ace Med-Evac and Rescue & Recovery pilots able to reach difficult locations in the worst weather conditions imaginable able to get in and get out safely but leaving nothing behind but a quantum trail. Support Detachment members will be picked from skilled veterans and operators from Wing Members and applicants.
A word from our Founder
I am most delighted you are interested in the Initiative Wing, Vanguards’ eyes and ears in the Verse. We are the explorers, scouts, scientists, and information specialists within the Vanguard organization. It is our duty to make sure that we successfully gather information, utilize information, and move information to the betterment of our Wing, and for Vanguard as a whole.
Initiative embodies one of the three tenets of Vanguard, Audacious. We must be bold, as we venture where no one has gone before. Exploring a newly discovered system or jump point, analyzing a new discovery or creating a new modification chip in a lab, transferring sensitive data or intercepting transmissions in a known pirate system. Yet we must also show restraint, some deliberateness because a little caution and preparedness shall keep you alive. Many missions will mean no support is nearby, so plan ahead. A failure to plan is a plan to fail.
We may not consistently pull in the big bucks that of Industries or Frontier, or have the glory and action that Security is lauded for but our actions provide each of them with the vital intelligence to be successful at their duties. Like Med-Tech keeping our machines and men in top condition, we are a vital cog in the wheels of Vanguard. Our success is Vanguard success. Scan Far and Discover!
