Discovery represents the forefront of exploration within Vanguard.

We are organized around the principle that there is something exciting about serving in a ship with a name that carries a history and honour. All of our ships are commissioned within the unit to help establish that history.

The unit operates ships tasked with executing missions focused on exploration & survey; search & rescue; and intelligence, surveillance & reconnaissance. We operate named ships with assigned crew, and we field personnel skilled in science, medicine, engineering and stealth.

We don't shy away from a fight — our ships train for independent operations beyond the reach of help and in hostile environments, including combat — and we provide specialty support to the First Fleet wherever it is required. However, our preferred instruments are cooperation, tact, stealth, and cunning. The fight is the last tool, not the first.

MISSION: Every Discovery ship sails with the same charge: to lead Vanguard into the unknown, to chart what lies at the frontier and beyond it, and to return with the report.

The flagship — where she sails, Vanguard follows.
We have a regular event scheduled for every other Sunday (1:30PM Eastern US time) where we take the ship out and do boxes, bounties, beacons, and beers, or some combination of the above. We do all that, but our primary directive is: Discovery for the Org.
Mayhem is to be expected.

ELCANO has an exploration-focused primary mission, and a sub-specialty in providing battlefield intelligence in support of Vanguard operations. ELCANO's watch falls in the EU time-zone, where she stands as the rallying point for persistent multi-crew exploration.
First through the re-opened Pyro jump point. First planetfall in Nyx.
We strive to lead from the front, and be first into the unknown.

Aid in any darkness — sanctuary in any storm.
The ship is dedicated to providing medical support for all of Vanguard.  We provide support and training in the following areas:  search & rescue, hazardous operations, battle medicine & tactics, medical evacuations.  We also operate as a forward operating base as needed, serving as a central hub for large operations.
