VCS Basic Radio Training

Welcome to VCS Basic Radio Training. Vanguard runs its own modified build of Simple Radio Standalone — the Vanguard Comms System, or VCS — and this certificate is intended to get you up to speed and out in the field quickly.

This course is self-guided and is intended to be completed without an instructor present. If you have questions, or would like a more personalized session, reach out to the VCS instructor team and they will walk you through the program.

Time required: approximately 20 minutes.

Before you begin, read the Quick Start Guide in the VCS Radio SOP & Training Manual. The Quick Start Guide covers the critical points you need before using the program — you do not need to read the whole manual, though you are welcome to.

Then take the quiz. It should take about 10 minutes. Each question names the section of the manual its answer comes from, and you should absolutely reference the manual while taking it. To pass, you must correct any missed answers with an instructor, either by direct message or voice.
