The Guardian MX trades creature comforts for raw firepower, swapping the base model's bed and some amenities for bigger guns and thicker armor

Mirai announced they were stripping their Guardian fighter down to its lethal essentials. They weren't kidding.
Let's start with the obvious: this thing is gorgeous. The MX takes the original Guardian's elegant lines and adds just enough bulk to look properly menacing.
The blast shield system deserves special mention. When those armored panels slide down over your cockpit, you feel like you're piloting something that means business. It's a brilliant design touch.
Overall, the Guardian MX delivers on its promise of devastating firepower — as well as a much needed update to all Guardian MFDs — while clearly highlighting the current challenges for all heavy fighters in the ever-evolving meta.
Four Size 4s feels appropriate for the MX and can put out damage with the best of them. Yet, despite enhanced shields and armor, even the newest of the Guardian series remains surprisingly fragile due to the unique, highly-articulate engine design — be advised, a single Size 1 missile can cripple this ship if it strikes an engine.
The MX is a bit taller than other models in the line, and the increased height makes it incompatible with current capital ship hangars. While future carriers like the Kraken will accommodate the dimensions, current logistics ships cannot transport the MX effectively.
The Guardian MX represents the Mirai vision of a dedicated heavy fighter, executed with their typical attention to visual design and engineering refinement. CIG continues to nail the Tie Fighter homage while staying unique to the Mirai brand. The ship looks magnificent, sounds powerful, and is a lot of fun to fly.
The challenge lies in Star Citizen's current heavy fighter balance. While the MX is objectively more survivable than the base Guardian, it still struggles with the fundamental issues affecting all ships in this class.
