This is the capstone of VCS radio training. It is intended to move you from operating a radio to designing the plan everyone else operates inside — thinking about communications from a leadership perspective, and being acutely aware of the human limitations we all have to work around.
Who should take this: unit leaders, event organizers, and anyone wanting to take their communications training further.
This course covers task saturation and workload management, human factors and the communication limits they impose, the communications hierarchy, types of frequencies, information flow and pathways, available versus required bandwidth, and how to build a communications plan.
The course is taught in person by a VCS Master Instructor and takes about 90 minutes, followed by a quiz and a practical exercise. Reach out to a Master Instructor to schedule a lesson — they are arranged as needed rather than on a fixed timetable.
